What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God
is the most important thing about us."
- A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

FOUNDATIONAL IS THE WORD OF GOD
The following are the core beliefs of
Bethel Baptist Church, Good Hope, GA.
All of our teaching and ministry
is rooted in and flows out of these Biblical doctrines.

SCRIPTURES:

We believe that every word of the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is the final authority
in all matters of faith and life.
II Timothy 3:16-17;
II Peter 1:20-21

SOVEREIGN GOD:

We believe that God is a person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
– three Persons and yet one God.
 Deuteronomy 6:4;
Matthew 26:19;
I Corinthians 8:6

JESUS CHRIST:

We believe that Jesus Christ, eternally existing,
is the only begotten Son of God who became
a sinless man in order to redeem us.
He was born of a virgin, and is fully God and fully man.
Luke 1:30-55;
John 1:1-15;
 Philippians 2:5-8;
 Colossians 1:15

SIN:

We believe that man was created in the image of God
but fell through sin.
This sin brought not only physical death,
but also spiritual death or eternal separation from God.
Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race,
with an inherited sinful nature.
Genesis 1:26-27, 2:16, 3:16-19;
Romans 3:10-23, 6:23

SALVATION:

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ suffered, died,
and shed His blood as a
substitutionary payment for the sins
of the whole world.
Furthermore, He physically rose from the dead
and then ascended into Heaven.
This gift of God is offered freely to all mankind
and simple faith in this sacrifice
is the only way of salvation for mankind.
This faith is demonstrated in response to the Lord
by calling upon His name to be saved.
It is at this moment that a person
is placed into the family of God
(born again) and sealed forever with the Holy Spirit.
They can live with the full assurance that they have
an eternal home in heaven waiting for them.
John 1:12-14, 3:16, 10:28-30;
Romans 5:8, 6:23; 10:9-13;
Ephesians 1:1-14, 2:8-10;

I John 5:12

END TIMES:

We believe that Jesus Christ will soon come again
in the air to catch up His Church
and to reward their service.
The unbelievers will be left behind
and will go through
a period called the Tribulation
after which Christ will return
to the earth to set up His Kingdom
of one thousand years of righteous rule.
At the end of the one thousand years,
unbelievers of all ages
will stand at the Great White Throne
to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire,
separated from God forever.
Believers will spend eternity in the fullness of joy
in Heaven with the Lord.
I Thessalonians 4:16-18;
Revelation 19:11 – 20:13;
Matthew 24:29-42
